Oxford Street Proposals

We're backing Oxford Street businesses in their call for improvement to help transform the street into a true destination.

Supporting Oxford Street Businesses

Bristol BID is backing Oxford Street businesses as they call for positive change to transform the area.

Working alongside The Urbanists, we’re supporting a shared vision to help Oxford Street grow into a go-to destination in the city centre. With a strong mix of independent food, drink and hospitality venues, there’s a real opportunity to build on what’s already happening here.

What’s being proposed?

Businesses on the street are asking for key changes that would make a big difference to how the space looks and feels:

  • More room for outdoor seating by rethinking how road space is used
  • Recognition of Oxford Street as an important city centre high street
  • Opening up the remaining railway arches for new businesses

These changes would help transform Oxford Street into a vibrant, people-friendly high street at the heart of Temple Quarter, a space where people want to spend time, not just pass through.

Backing Bristol’s independents

Oxford Street is home to a fantastic group of independents, including Little Martha Brewing, Forest Bakery, Full Court Press, The Pasty Emporium and Unwin’s Brewery. This initiative focuses on supporting them to thrive and helping the area reach its full potential.

As a BID, supporting projects like this is a big part of what we do, championing local businesses and helping create a more vibrant city centre for everyone.

Get involved

We’re encouraging everyone to show their support and help shape the future of Oxford Street.
