Our Green & Blue Vision
Our Green & Blue Vision is the first of the recently formed Bristol BID and calls for all stakeholders to raise their ambitions for the city and for investors to help us meet that ambition. The vision identifies 10 demonstrator ideas for improvements, proposed new strategies for the city centre, and presents a number of commitments from us and asks for support.
The vision will be launched at an event on 11th November, book your place here.
We recognise that our businesses, their staff and the wider Bristol community want Bristol city centre to be a clean, attractive and environmentally friendly place to spend time. We have already invested in a number of Green Infrastructure projects including wildflower meadows, green walls and planters that are very much appreciated by those who engage with them. Green Infrastructure is also hugely important for the health of our city centre; reducing urban heat island affect, flooding, increasing biodiversity and capturing carbon emissions.
This vision will support the regional and city-wide plans that already exist including Bristol City Council’s Harbour Placemaking Plan and Blue Green Infrastructure Strategy and West of England Combined Authority’s Joint Green Infrastructure Strategy and Local Nature Recovery Strategy. We’re also proud to support the Wetland City Programme being led by WWT.
This vision brings together the previous Bristol City Centre BID Green Audit and Redcliffe & Temple BID Green Infrastructure Action Plan as well as developing new ideas for the city centre.
These two plans can be found here:

Big Green Ideas for Bristol Harbour - Design Competition
Supported by Design West and Bristol City Council, we are launching a call for public realm concept ideas for three city locations; Bathurst Basin, Hannover Place and The Grove.
The winning ideas will form part of the BID’s new Green & Blue Vision and will be used to inform further discussions about these sites and others around Bristol Harbour with Bristol City Council.
A prize of a £500 Love Bristol Gift Cards will be awarded to each of the three winners.
The winners will be announced at an event on 11th November, book your place here.
The Design Competition closes at midnight on 1 November 2026.
Bristol BID Greening Fund
This fund is now closed and will reopen again in Spring 2027.
We continue to welcome ideas from businesses, residents, and landowners for greening and public realm improvements.
If you have an idea, please get in touch with Tom.
In July 2026 we launched our first event Greening Fund, inviting businesses, landowners, residents and community groups to help make Bristol City Centre greener, healthier and more biodiverse. Whether you have a fully developed project or simply know of a space with the potential for planting, habitat creation or other greening improvements, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to have a developed project in mind; our team can help develop your ideas and, where appropriate, either provide funding for you to deliver the project or deliver it on your behalf through our Urban Gardener team.
A total of £25,000 was made available with grants ranging from £200 to £5,000.
We will announce the funded projects in October 2026.
