Support TAP for Bristol through Payroll Giving

Employees can now make tax-free donations directly from their salary, helping to tackle homelessness across Bristol.

Employees looking to make a regular difference to the lives of those experiencing homelessness in Bristol can now support TAP for Bristol through Payroll Giving.

The scheme allows employees to donate directly from their gross, pre-tax salary, meaning donations cost less than their face value, while still providing the full benefit to the charity. For example, based on a 20% tax band, a £10 monthly donation would cost just £8 from your take-home pay.

TAP for Bristol, an initiative from Bristol BID and Caring in Bristol, provides safe and convenient ways for people to support projects tackling homelessness across the city. Funds raised are shared between Caring in Bristol’s homelessness prevention work and grants awarded to local organisations delivering practical support to people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.

Since launching in 2019, TAP for Bristol has helped local charities provide emergency assistance which has included essential travel costs, mobile phone and data packages, specialist addiction support, household essentials and help for people at risk of eviction. Funding also supports Caring in Bristol’s prevention work and currently supports Z House, a youth shelter for 18 to 25-year-olds experiencing a housing emergency.

Payroll Giving offers a simple way to provide ongoing support, with donations automatically deducted each payday. Regular contributions help charities plan ahead and provide reliable funding for services that support some of Bristol’s most vulnerable residents.

The scheme is administered through Hands On Payroll Giving, with 100% of donations reaching TAP for Bristol. Employees can start, stop or amend their donations at any time, and employers that do not currently offer Payroll Giving can be supported to set up a scheme as your employer needs to run a Payroll Giving scheme before donations can start. Once you’ve submitted your form, Hands On Payroll Giving will contact your employer directly to advise how this can be set up.
