Global Broadmead celebrates international cultures, communities and independent businesses
This June and July, the latest chapter of our Love Bristol, Love Broadmead campaign celebrates global culture and community connections in Broadmead
Building on earlier moments in the campaign including the Big Broadmead Spring Clean, Care & Repair Festival and Blossoming Broadmead, Global Broadmead will spotlight the international businesses, traders, artists and communities that have helped shape one of Bristol’s most vibrant and evolving city centre destinations.
The programme will bring together live events, performances, music, sport and cultural celebrations across Broadmead and Cabot Circus throughout June and July, creating welcoming spaces for people to come together, discover new cultures and celebrate Bristol’s diversity.
Highlights include the return of the International Cultural Festival at Sparks Bristol on Saturday 6 June, a free, family-friendly celebration featuring live music, dance, workshops, fashion, food and creative activities from communities across the world. Organised by Global Goals Centre and supported by Bristol BID, the festival will transform Sparks and the surrounding Broadmead area into a vibrant hub of cultural exchange and creativity.
Visitors can also enjoy Bristol’s participation in international Make Music Day, which coincides with Father’s Day on Sunday 21 June. Supported by Bristol BID and programmed by St Georges, free musical performances will take place in venues throughout the city centre including Sparks Bristol, John Wesley’s New Rooms, Bristol Beacon, Arnolfini and Bristol Cathedral, as well as popping up in the streets. International Make Music Day offers something for almost every musical taste, and provides a free family day out in the city centre.
Broadmead and Cabot Circus will welcome cricket fans from across the world as part of the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2026 host city celebrations on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June. Free fan activations in the city centre will invite visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the tournament through interactive cricket-inspired challenges, creative workshops and family-friendly activities.
Visitors will be able to take part in a run chase challenge representing their city, test their reactions and skills against the clock, design banners and bracelets to support their teams, and discover more about the international captains leading their nations on the world stage. The activation will also connect people with local grassroots cricket opportunities, encouraging more people to get involved in women’s cricket across Bristol.
The Global Broadmead programme will also shine a light on the area’s hospitality businesses, many of which are rooted in international heritage and family traditions. Businesses including Tsubaki Ippinya, Crispy Dosa, Taste of Napoli, Ding Sing Oriental Supermarket, Eat a Pitta, Cupp, Cote and The Mayflower represent just some of the diverse food cultures now thriving in Broadmead, reflecting how the area has evolved into one of Bristol’s most eclectic food destinations.
Several of the businesses to be featured are independent, family-run or community-led, with stories spanning generations. From Taste of Napoli’s father-and-son business journey to The Mayflower’s decades-long history serving Bristol families, these businesses are fascinating examples of the personal stories that continue to shape the city centre.
The campaign will also celebrate the traders and community makers based at Sparks Bristol, including Anne-Su from One Green Kitchen, who runs weekly creative sessions for Bristol’s Chinese and Hong Kong communities, alongside independent traders specialising in African fashion, jewellery, sustainable products and global food.
Anna Farthing, Interim Head of Place at Bristol BID, said
