Monthly Footfall Overview: July 2026

July saw continued growth across Bristol, with strong performance on Victoria Street and increased footfall in Broadmead.

Overall, July showed positive footfall trends across Bristol’s key city centre locations. Victoria Street saw a 2% increase in footfall and a 6% increase in unique visitors compared with June, while international visitors increased by 38%, coinciding with the start of the school summer holidays. Broadmead recorded a 9% increase in footfall compared with June, with Saturdays continuing to be the busiest days and weekday footfall increasing after the start of the summer holidays. The Harbour Festival also contributed to increased activity across the city centre, with particularly strong footfall around the weekend of 17–19 July.

Following our investment in Micro Location insights via O2/Virgin Media, a sensor has been installed on Victoria Street allowing us to better understand footfall trends across the city.

We also capture data through two sensors in Broadmead, installed on Broadmead East and the corner of Broadmead West and Union Street. These sensors measure passing footfall by combining AI-powered algorithms with existing camera networks.

The daily average visitor number was 12,432, slightly down from 12,749 in June, but 36% higher than July 2025, when the daily average was 9,144.

Key trends included:

  • Summer holidays: International footfall increased by 38% compared with June, coinciding with the start of the school summer holidays. However, the start of the holidays had little impact on overall footfall in the Victoria Street area.
