Monthly Volunteering Series – February Cards of Kindness
This February, we are working to play a small part in tackling loneliness
We are inviting people to write a friendly card for someone in our community who may be feeling isolated, especially those who don’t have family or friends close by. It only takes a few minutes, but it could mean the world to the person receiving it.
How it works:
1. Write a card at home or at work
2. Add something thoughtful — a poem, a story, a sketch, a kind message
3. Drop it off at Runway East Reception
4. Bristol BID will collect and distribute them to individuals experiencing loneliness
This event is part of our monthly volunteering series, offering BID businesses an easy way to give back and support wellbeing across our city.
Not sure what to include? Here are a few ideas:
• A short poem you love (or one you have written)
• A cheerful story or a happy memory
• A few lines about something that made you smile recently
• A drawing or sketch
• A child’s message or drawing
• A joke or riddle
• A seasonal note: “What I love about February…”
• A recommendation: a book, film, recipe, or local place you enjoy
• A few uplifting words, kindness, encouragement, hope
• A list of small joys (tea and biscuits, sunny mornings, birdsong…)
A small act of kindness can make a big difference.
