2025 Projects
Victoria Street
Major improvements to Victoria Street will complete in Spring 2026 including a new cycle lane, continuous crossings and new public realm spaces.
Queen Charlotte Street
A new cycle lane and raised pedestrian crossing is being added to Queen Charlotte Street in Summer 2025, completing Autumn 2025.
Avon Street
This new pedestrian and cycling crossing will improve pedestrian and cycling access across Temple Way. Junction work will also enable buses to serve Avon Street. This work is due to start at the end of 2025, starting in Spring 2026.
Denmark Street and Frogmore Street
Proposed measures include timed road closures, public realm improvements and space for businesses with outdoor seating. Consultation on proposed measures will be carried out in Autumn 2025.
Workplace Parking Levy
Bristol City Council will commence a feasibility study on Workplace Parking Levy in Autumn 2025; (a charge on employee parking to fund transport projects).
Road Safety Action Plan
Bristol City Council will consult on a Vision Zero Plan in Autumn 2025 following a motion passed in July 2024 to adopt a Vision Zero Approach to Road Deaths.
Kerbside Strategy
Further consultation on a Kerbside Strategy, designed to guide how we balance, parking and other uses of the kerbside will be carried out in Autumn 2025. This work looks to emulate the achievements made in Lambeth
Freight Consolidation
Freight Consolidation hubs at College Street and West End Car Parks will open in Autumn 2025 for operators who wish to use cargo bikes to distribute goods around the city.
A37 Wells Road and Stockwood
This bus improvement scheme will see new bus lanes and walking and cycling improvements along the Number 2 bus route. Construction commences Autumn 2025, completing Summer 2026.
2026 Projects
Union Street and The Horsefair
Work to remove buses and general traffic from The Horsefair and Penn Street and improve pedestrian facilities on Union Street will commence in Autumn 2025.
Park Street and Queens Road
Major changes are proposed to be made in Summer 2026 including a Bus Gate on Park Street and new cycle lanes on Queen’s Road. New public realm spaces will also be added including a large new space out the RWA. Further consultation will be carried out in Autumn 2025.
East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood
Analysis of the data following the six month trail period (April – October 2025), to understand which elements need to be adapted to make the Liveable Neighbourhood for St George and Barton Hill permanent.
Redcliffe Way
Major plans to improve Redcliffe Way and the Redcliffe roundabout will commence in Spring 2026, completing in 2027.
Bedminster Bridges Roundabout
Major plans to improve Bedminster Bridges roundabout will commence in Spring 2026, completing in 2027.
Concorde Way
Consultation is taking place in Summer 2025 on walking and cycling improvements to the Concorde Way. Improvements will also be made to the Concorde Way in Riverside Park close to the M32.
EV Charging Plan
In line with WECA’s EV Plan Bristol will create a framework for the rollout of more EV charging stations.
2027 Projects
Portway
Improvements to the bus lanes and shared walking and cycling path will commence in Early 2026.
Deanery Road
Proposals have been made to put in a cycle lane from Hotwells Rd all the way to College Green in addition to new public realm in front of the Central Library. Dates tbc subject to funding.
Old Market Quietway
Proposals have been made to put in a cycle lane connecting Old Market with Lawrence Hill Roundabout. Dates tbc subject to funding.
South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood
Further consultation on the proposed Liveable Neighbourhood for Southville, Windmill Hill and Bedminster will start in September 2025.
Bond Street
Plans to improve bus prioritisation on bond street and create a quiet cycle route will commence in Spring 2026, completing in 2027.
2028 Projects
New Train Stations
A number of new stations are proposed for the region including North Filton, Henbury, Pill and Portishead. Looking further ahead additional stations are also proposed for Ashton Gate, St Anne’s and Saltford.
M32 Park and Ride
Work is still ongoing for location of this with the West of England Combined Authority
