This August, we are inviting Bristol businesses to encourage their employees to take a volunteering day so they can step away from their desks and into the great outdoors to support young people as part of the Break Free Programme at Belmont Estate. Designed to help children and young people build confidence and resilience, the programme provides enriching outdoor activities during the summer holidays.
This hands-on volunteering session offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference while gaining a first-hand insight into the incredible work Community of Purpose delivers across our city.
What you will be doing
Volunteers will support young people throughout a range of outdoor activities, helping to create a safe, welcoming and encouraging environment where participants can thrive.
· Supporting children and young people to take part in activities and try new experiences
· Encouraging teamwork, communication and confidence building through play
· Building positive relationships through conversation, encouragement and active participation
· Helping create an inclusive environment where every young person feels valued and supported
· Acting as a positive role model and showing young people what opportunities can look like
No specialist experience is required, just enthusiasm, a positive attitude and a willingness to get involved.
Why get involved?
Break Free is a programme run by Community of Purpose for children aged 8-13 in South Bristol in receipt of Free School Meals. Many of the young people taking part in Break Free have limited access to positive role models and enriching opportunities. By simply showing up, listening and engaging, volunteers can help young people feel heard, respected and connected to their community.
For businesses, it is also an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people in Bristol, while building stronger connections with organisations creating lasting social impact.
