Would you like to design and create a Fairy Door for Bristol BID’s ‘Love Bristol, Love Broadmead’ summer theme, ‘Playful Broadmead’?
The Broadmead Fairy Doors project provides a playful way to engage with the city and view buildings in new ways. Hunting for imaginative miniature portals provides a fun activity for children and families to enjoy in the school holidays.
Makers are invited to produce durable, imaginative miniature doors that are safe for the public, weather-resistant, and suitable for long-term outdoor display. The doors and their locations should appeal to multi-generational groups, including older adults and younger children, promoting conversation, connection, playfulness and joy.

Project details:
- Participants: Professionals are invited to use this as a team building or training opportunity. Volunteers of all ages, and community groups with relevant interests are also invited to get involved. People with skills in art, design, architecture, animation, theatre, film, advertising, model making, prop making, scenic art, set building, puppet making, design, architecture, landscaping, sculpture and similar are especially welcome.
- Host venues: Over 30 shops, cafes and businesses in the Broadmead area have already signed up to host a miniature door outside their building. Depending on how many makers get involved, we may have availability for more. Register your interest if you’d like more information.
- Funds: A small honorarium of £50 is available to contribute to materials, if needed. This will be provided in the form of a Love Bristol Gift Card that can be spent in 190+ businesses across the city
Thank you for your interest in this project. Your creativity and imagination can help create a welcoming and playful experience for all ages this summer, and bring a new sense of discovery to the city centre.
