Safe & Supported Communities

Monthly Volunteering Series

Bristol BID’s Monthly Volunteering Series has been developed to help city centre businesses give back to the Bristol community, while supporting their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.

Louisa Briggs

Project Manager

Through a programme of regular, accessible volunteering opportunities, we aim to connect businesses, employees and local organisations to make a positive, practical impact across the city.

What is the Volunteering Series?

The Volunteering Series is a rolling programme of monthly volunteering activities, primarily delivered as part of Bristol BID’s lunchtime events programme. These sessions are designed to be easy to take part in, allowing employees to volunteer during the working day without the need for a full day commitment.

Alongside the monthly sessions, we will also deliver occasional larger-scale community events that bring together businesses, partners and local organisations to support shared priorities across the city centre.

Why get involved?

Taking part in the Monthly Volunteering Series helps businesses to:

  • Support local communities and causes in a meaningful way
  • Contribute to Corporate Social Responsibility and ESG objectives
  • Encourage employee engagement, wellbeing and team connection
  • Build stronger relationships between businesses and the communities they operate in

All activities are coordinated by Bristol BID, making it simple for businesses to get involved.

Get involved

If you would like to take part in an upcoming volunteering session, find out more about the programme, or nominate a local organisation or charity for us to support, we’d love to hear from you.

Celebrating Volunteers this June

To celebrate Volunteer’s Week (1-7 June) and Loneliness Awareness Week (15-21 June), Bristol BID is highlighting opportunities for businesses and residents to give back to the city this June through shared activities, collaboration, and connection.

Our Volunteers Hub below features a range of initiatives to get involved with this June. From BID and partner led events such as litter picking and gardening, to city-wide opportunities with local business, festivals, and events.

Is your business volunteering this June? To help us celebrate our business community, please tag us @bristolbid on socials so we can help spread the word about your volunteering efforts.

Past Sessions

Monthly Volunteering series - March Big Broadmead Spring Clean

In March, we tackled a week long community clean up as we came together in The Big Broadmead Spring Clean. Our amazing volunteers helped us help tidy streets, improve green spaces and brighten public areas in one of Bristol’s busiest shopping areas.

Monthly Volunteering Series – February Cards of Kindness

In February, we played a small part in tackling loneliness with our Card of Kindness. Our amazing volunteers wrote a poem, card or kind words which we distributed to someone in need of a bit of love and comfort.

Monthly Volunteer Series – January Litter Pick

In January, a group of amazing volunteers from various businesses braved the wind and grey skies and successfully filled up 5 bin bags of litter on Brandon Hill.

Volunteer series - December Toy Wrapping

In December, our volunteers put on their elves hat and took part in a toy wrapping event in support of The Lord Mayor of Bristol's Children Appeal.
