Join our monthly Gardening Club to help care for Quaker Burial Ground, a peaceful green space in the heart of the city centre.

Volunteers will help care for and improve the grounds as they develop into an inviting Sanctuary Garden, where people can enjoy nature, connect with others and find a calm space to reflect.

Each month, the session will involve a range of gardening tasks to help maintain and enhance the space. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or completely new to gardening, there’s a task for everyone.

There are two one-hour sessions to choose from: 12pm–1pm and 1pm–2pm. Please book the session you plan to arrive for, as the team will explain the day’s tasks and provide any equipment you need.

You’re welcome to stay for as little or as long as you like. If you’d like to volunteer for the full two hours, simply book the 12pm session. There’s no need to book both time slots.

All tools and materials are provided; simply come prepared for the weather. A waterproof coat, shoes you don’t mind getting muddy and a drink are recommended.

The Gardening Club is part of a wider community project to improve Quaker Burial Ground and develop it as a Sanctuary Garden. The project brings together City of Sanctuary, Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust, Bristol Society of Friends, Bristol City Council, UWE and Bristol BID, with volunteers playing an important role in shaping and caring for the space.
